The object of the game of blackjack is to get a hand of twenty one or a hand as close as possible to twenty one without going over the number with the two initial cards that are dealt to the player. Two cards are also dealt to the dealer and the dealer and the player are opposing each other, playing against each other’s hands. Although the two cards are dealt initially, the player can choose to bet another card, if they are confident that another card will bring them closer to the win. In the case that the player goes over, the deal automatically wins, and in the case that the dealer goes over twenty one, the player wins.
Learning when to split cards and when to double down can pay while playing blackjack. Splitting cards that have the same value gives the player the chance to play two hands which can increase the chances of winning twofold. On the other hand, doubling down to increase the bet when the player has the chance of getting blackjack, or a high hand can be an effective way to increase the bet once the cards have been played on the table.
There are charts that can help beginner players know when to stay with the two cards that have been dealt, or know when to hit on the two cards. These are effective ways to play conservatively while betting at the table and are based on the best odds of blackjack.
